About us
Getting every child into class, and keeping them there
Every Child in Class is a community-based initiative based in Kampala, Uganda, started in 2025. Our mission is education: we work with local leaders, teachers and families to get vulnerable children into school and keep them learning, and we stay with each child for the long term rather than for a single campaign.
Our pillars of impact
Everything a child needs to keep learning
Education is our mission. School fees alone are not enough, so we also make sure children have a safe place to sleep and that girls have sanitary pads, because both decide whether a child is in class.
Education
Our core mission: every child enrolled, in class and learning, term after term.
- School fees paid directly to the school
- Exercise books, textbooks, pens and mathematical sets
- Uniforms, shoes and school bags
Safe Housing
A child who sleeps safely can study at night and arrive at school ready to learn.
- Help with shelter for families in crisis
- Mattresses, bedding and mosquito nets
- Safer, healthier living environments
Health & Dignity
No girl should miss a week of class every month because of her period.
- Reusable sanitary pad kits that last a year or more
- Disposable pads for immediate need
- Menstrual health conversations with girls and parents
How we work
Volunteers on the ground
Our volunteers make sure support reaches the right children and keeps reaching them.
Identifying children in need
Volunteers visit communities with local leaders and teachers to find children who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out, and assess each family’s situation in person.
Coordinating with schools
We pay fees directly to school administrators, collect official receipts and enrolment confirmation, and follow up on attendance and report cards.
Distributing supplies
We hand over uniforms, books, bedding and sanitary pads in person, check sizes, and record each distribution with signatures.
Following up through the year
Volunteers visit children regularly and report progress and challenges back to the coordination team and to sponsors.
Where donations go
Clear costs, receipts for every payment
Here is what it costs to keep one child in school for a full year, and how we make sure the money gets there.
One child, one school year
$600
School fees
$450 (75%)
Paid directly to the school, with an official receipt.
Scholastic materials & uniform
$150 (25%)
Books, stationery, mathematical set, uniform, shoes and bag.
Online card and Mobile Money payments are processed by Pesapal, which deducts a transaction fee of about 3.5%. Housing and sanitary pad support is funded on top of this, according to each family’s need.
- 1
We verify every family
Children are identified with local leaders and teachers, and our volunteers visit each home before support begins.
- 2
We pay schools directly
Fees go straight to the school, never as cash to families, and we keep the official receipt for each payment.
- 3
We follow up every term
Volunteers check attendance with teachers and visit children through the year.
- 4
We report back
Sponsors receive updates on how funds were used. Ask us for receipts at any time.
Want to see a receipt? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will share school fee receipts and distribution records.
